Do you remember when I told you this that night That if you're by my side When everyday begins I'll fall for you again? I made a promise when I told you this that night
Rose had sought out solitude once again. That is not to say that she was particularly subtle about her disappearance- if someone wanted to find her, it would be easy enough. Her wanderings had led her through some of the muddiest parts of these mountains. The places that she usually avoided like the plague, proud as she was of her pristine white coat. Needless to say, she'd sunk her paws into the mud and trailed mud all the way to her hideout now. Rose never wanted to be unfindable, she had family and friends who might need her. She thought about them as she entered the cave and washed her paws gently in a trickle of water near the entrance of the cave.
She remembered bringing Saki and Razanur here when they were much younger now. They were still pups, of course, but they were growing fast and she hadn't seen them for some time now. She sighed a little, curling up near the entrance of the cave and allowing the hum of the water around her to soothe her emotional wounds. Tammer coming home had healed a great gaping part of her, but she was not entirely at ease. She needed to tell her eldest daughter that Raiden, strong father and mate that he was, had passed away. She needed to tell her about her new siblings. And about Bion's new-found home across enemy lines.
But still, she hid. Rose did not want to crowd her daughter by following after her with bad news. She supposed that when Tammer wanted answers, she would seek out her lonely young mother. So Rose waited, quietly, breathing softly and watching the mountain curve down out of sight before her.
That I'll be fine 'Cause when I die then I die loving you It's alright, I'll be fine When I die then I die loving you Loving you, loving you

- Tammer hummed almost inaudibly, a soft little tune in her head as she wondered the Moons territory. The gentle sound comforted her anxious, excited heart and now it was at a harmonic tempo with her hum and mumbled footsteps. - Her anxiety was the cause of pondering seeing her father after all this time. She had set out to find Raiden early this morning, but first she had to find the wolf who would help her most in this quest. So, since this morning to the afternoon, she'd been looking for the freshest scent of Rose she could find. It seemed the activity of searching was a habit, or just something that never escaped her. - About an hour ago she got a lucky break and found her mother's newest scent, and had followed it out to the Mountain Range. Tammer was surprised to see the muddy scene, as she never really pictured the beautiful she-wolf to be around such stuff. But, she was glad Rose came across this way because the soft, squishy, cool mud seeping in between her paws' toes was one of the most wonderful feelings. It did make her footsteps a bit louder, but the sound worked well with her odd song. Right now, it seemed the only way the Falling Moons could get better was if everyone was happy, but that was just the way she thought. - For a split second her ears shot up to the sky. She just took in the barely caked, mud paw prints that trailed somewhere unknown. Apparently she had been zoning off, because when she looked back, she could see prints that were not her own for as far as her eyes could reach. Quickening her pace she continued forward to follow the visible and invisible trails of her mom. The trail blurred through her vision and as her feet ran, so did her heart, and her humming stopped. - Soon a smug smile spread across her face, the image of a cave and disappearing paw prints coming into view. Tammer trotted up to the edge of the cave and gave a small, soft bark to alert her presence, and she awaited an answer. Her amber eyes glistened with curiosity, her heart thumping loudly in her chest as she peered inside. She knew that it was Rose who was inside there, if she hadn't left the cave somehow already, but she couldn't help but have a shimmer of hope that Raiden was in there with her. It'd be so wonderful to be with the both of them at the same time.

Having dozed off a little listening to the thrum of the cave, Rose felt her ears flicker for a moment at the sound of approaching footfalls. As if independent of her snoozing body, her nose twitched and tried to catch the scent. Somewhere between dreaming and awake, she lifted her head and yawned. Slowly she came to, blinking, and focused. Tammer.
"Hello," she smiled, with every ounce of sleepy love in her body shining through. For a moment she forgot all of the things that Tammer did not know. "Come in, come in."
She stretched her paws out where they lay, the faint outlined of mud still on her white paws despite her washing them. Out of habit, she began to clean them, nibbling and licking between her pawpads to rid herself of the last of the mud. She glanced up a little, brain switching on, and finally she was back to normal. She wanted to assess Tammer's emotional state before breaking all of the news at once.
"How are you?" she asked, smiling, setting her dark eyes on her daughter.

- No matter there being a minuscule amount of disappointment in her when only Rose's voice could be heard, and no sign that might be Raoden's, her tail wagged. That little, tiny amount was washed away as quickly as a leaf in an ocean, when she could feel the love emanating from her mother. In response to that, she smiled, and let her own love and admiration for Rose show. "Hello," she responded happily, but quietly, as it sounded her mother was just waking up. - "Thank you, sorry if I woke you up," she gave an apologetic smile as she reached her mother, her claws clicking quietly on the cave floor. Tammer slowly sat, her tail curling around her body in a secure way. Rose's question made her ears perk, and she was glad her fur hid her blush. She really shouldn't have responded that way to such a simple, usual question, but there was a complicated answer to that one. It seemed her body just remembered her previous anxiety, and Tammer wished she could hum or run around in a circle. But she just shrugged and said, "I'm doing okay..." Underneath her fur she blushed again, hoping somehow her mother wouldn't pick up on her true emotions. - Deciding it wouldn't hurt to get some small talk in before her true question, she asked, "And how are you?" Surprisingly enough, even to herself, her voice came out very sincere and curious and caring.

Rose was happy to see that her daughter seemed to have settled in. It was funny, as she watched her reply to such a simple question, there seemed this longing in her to move. Rose was an incredibly still wolf, whose every move was with purpose. She was incapable of moving with frivolity, just for the sake of it. Perhaps Tammer had more of her father's adventurous side to her. The white mother felt so sad, but kept her face entirely still and emotionless for now.
"You don't have to sit here with me if you don't wish to," she smiled a little. "I'm content to rest but you may move about as you want to."
The smile stretched a little bit and she glanced out of the cave, analysing the landscape before them, the trees and ferns and the trickling water. She enjoyed the view from here, so hidden and beautiful. At Tammer's question, Rose turned back to her daughter.
"I'm fine," she replied. She looked at Tammer carefully, watched her body, took in her face. When she believed her to be emotionally stable, she let a little more emotion seep into her eyes. "I'm fine, but I'm lonely. There's something I need to tell you, Tammer. Our family is not quite as it used to be."
She paused, just to make sure that Tammer did want to hear what she had to say. If Tammer decided not to hear it, Rose would not dream of forcing such morbid information onto her.
