Naila couldn't help but keep thinking about what Duke had said. Fallon was still alive! She was almost jumping with joy. She smiled and started to run through the dimly lit forest. The feel of her legs pumping and each stride taking her further made her happiness grow even more. She just had to find her sister. Even though, she wanted her sister to find her, she was sure that if she just "ran into" Fallon, that it wouldn't seem like she was trying to find her.
She was just so relived to know that at least one of her siblings made it out of that dreadful earthquake alive. She slowed her pace and came to a slow walk, cooling her body down. The forest was dark, and smelt of prey. She sniffed around, trying to find something to eat.

Fallon was roaming the edge of the forest, lurking in the shadows. The smell of prey was heavy, and her stomach gave a low growl. When was the last time she'd eaten? She honestly couldn't remember. She kept her head low to the ground, smelling for any scent of small prey. She knew there were deer and elk and other small mammals near, but anything big was out of the question on her own. The delta would have to stick to mice and rabbits.
She was so intent on her next meal, she didn't catch the scent of the other wolf in the area. The footsteps of her kind were mistaken as footsteps of medium sized prey, maybe a wild pig. Whatever it was was close. She rounded a large oak tree and collided with the wolf. Rather than offering an "excuse me", she met the intruder with a snarl. "Hey! Watch where you're go-" Her words were cut short as she looked at the she-wolf in front of her. A gasp escaped her as her jaw dropped in shock.
Naila. It couldn't be, could it? Her little sister stood in front of her, solid and real as could be, but Fallon felt like she was seeing a ghost. Until this point, she'd only thought she and Almira had survived the quake. And yet, here was weak little Naila, all grown up, just as she was. The orange brown fur was a dead giveaway. Fallon couldn't think of any other family lines that had that orangey hue to them. This was her sister. Fallon figured a normal wolf would be leaping for joy at the thought that they weren't alone in the world, but Fallon felt...confused, lost. If Naila had somehow managed to survive, had Denzin and Omari as well?
"Naila...you're not dead." It was all she could muster in her current state of shock. Her tone wasn't condescending for once, but it did hold a hint of her usual sarcasm.

Naila let out a huff, as something solid ran into her. She looked at the wolf who started to snarl at her, and then she froze. Fallon. She stared at her sister. She was grown up and bigger then Naila still, but she was...beautiful. Naila could see that Fallon was in shock herself. Naila...you're not dead was the only thing that Fallon had said to her. She was a little confused as to why her sister wasn't happy to see her.
"I am not dead. And neither are you!" She couldn't hide the rising joy in her voice.
She looked at her sister that she hadn't seen in a very long time, years at that. She looked around suddenly, "Is Denzin or Omari with you?" She looked around for her brothers and hoped that they would show up. She looked back at her sister, who looked so different as an adult, but still looked so familiar. She smelt the same...and her eyes still had that hint of wanting to be top-wolf in them.

Fallon shook her coat, regaining her confident and haughty demeanor. As much as she hated to admit it, she was somewhat glad to see that Naila was alive. She wasn't alone. If Naila had made it, perhaps their brothers had as well, and then Fallon could truely be at peace...well, at least as peaceful as one could be in a pack of backstabbers and murderers. She kept her poker face on, signs of hopefullness hidden by nonchalant attitude. But something Naila had said did get to her...she didn't know where their brothers were either.
"No, they are not with me. In fact, you are the first one in our family I've seen in over as year, besides mother dearest," she said, snorting at the mention of the ever-absent Almira. "I don't know where they are...and believe me, I tried to find them. But if you made it here in somewhat decent condition, then maybe they did too. Dad of course...well, you and I both know he couldn't have made it here..."
Her voice trailed off, the obvious truth hard to swallow. Josiah had been injured and weakened by the earthquake. Without a proper mate to take care of him, there was no way he'd managed to make the treacherous journey from Empryean to Caden Valley. Fallon knew that to hold onto that hope was futile. Feeling her eyes beginning to glaze over, she blinked to keep away the tears, putting on another straight face. Her baby sister was home, and for now, it was a start.

Naila hid the disappointment in her face and voice as Fallon told her that Denzin and Omari were still unheard of. Her mother was alive, but she didn't really care, but when thinking of her beloved father, she was put into a slight depression. Fallon was right, there was no way that Josiah could have survived a journey like that. It was too far and not enough food to keep him going.
He most likely wouldn't even be able to hunt for himself. The thought of her father suffering, almost made her cry out in despair, but she kept it in. She looked at her sister again, "I am glad that you are safe and alive my sister." She really looked at Fallon this time and noticed that she was strong, but skinny, almost as though as she doesn't eat at all that well. Which was strange, and Naila hoped her sister wasn't starving.

I am glad that you are safe and alive my sister. Fallon found that a funny thought, seeing as how she was completely horrid to Naila when they were pups. Then again, as she thought about it, they were alone now, all each other had. It would only make sense for them to band together and try to build a bridge to real sisterhood. Fallon thought about their mother. They all held the same resentment, they had to. The relationship there was nonexistent, unless you counted snarling and growling at each other a relationship. The two surviving pups of the former Falling Moons Betas were here, together. Maybe Fallon could be a little more tolerant...maybe.
"It's good to see you too Naila." Fallon would never admit it, but there was truth behind the statement. She would have preferred to see her brothers, but knowing she wasn't completely by herself in the world made her heart feel a little lighter. But if Naila still wanted to remain in the pack, she had to get stronger. Surely she knew that? Fallon decided to delve for some answers.
"So...how did you find your way "home"? What happened after I left that day?"

Naila knew that she wasn't going to get much caring from her sister, it was just the way things were. Suddenly her mind flickered to Duke, and Naila filled with determination again. She had to quite this love dove stuff as well!
At her sister question Naila looked at her, "After the earthquake, I couldn't find anyone. I stayed for a while, hoping to find a sign that you or Denzin, or Omari were alive... but after that, I left. In search of a new home. So I came upon Caden valley, found these wolves, and now you. Ironic mostly. What did you do?"
She felt that her sister had a tougher time, but she wasn't sure, so she sad waiting for her sister's response.
