Ebony sat on a log stump, quite bored. She had been hunting, but got tired and left. So, now, here she was. She was a member of the Dancing Stars pack, and felt quite fine there. Actually, she felt perfect there. Maybe because she was madly in love with the alpha, maybe because there was peace, she didn't know. All she knew was..well, the ways of life. She didn't really know how the other pack acted, though they seemed mean, so she tried to avoid them at all costs. But, when there was a fight, she'd fight for her pack. All these thoughts jumbled in her head and she cleared them out. Life. It was confusing. Ebony sighed, and looked at the clear blue sky, clouds scattered among the large space. It was beautiful, and made her wish to be a bird, so she could fly off into the sky.
She wagged her tail, jumping off of the stump to walk around. She thought about hunting again...but it always frustrated her when she couldn't catch even a mere, limp elk. But, she'd try. Picking up to a swift jog, she went through the forest to search for a old animal. She paused, scenting the air for any animals, and one caught her attention. Deer. She felt her mouth watering as she thought of the meal and began a lope after the tempting scent. She then saw the animal. A young roe deer, but deformed in a way. It's back leg was twisted and it's sides thin as if it was starved. Easy kill. She snuck slyly behind it and jumped. She had it dead within seconds.
She thought of how to bring this back to all of the wolves, and realized how stupid she had just been. She'd have to drag it all the way back. Great...she shook her head. This was very difficult. She grasped the neck and tugged, and it moved. Not very far, but still. It was light, about thirty pounds, but still a workout for any wolf. She then, feeling tired, sat down and sighed.
