With only the simplest of glances in her direction, it was easy to tell she was analyzing him just as much as he was doing to her. He knew he was being watched...Studied for his actions, his words, his personality. All of these were natural reactions when interracting with someone for a first time. Even so, although he went through it almost everyday, it irked him. Despite the confident air he put on around his pack members, there was a bit of self conciousness in him and he was constantly pondering over the thoughts that ran through the minds of his pack that referred to him. With a sigh he pushed these thoughts away. He smiled at her slightly baffled expression, wondering what exactly was running through her mind, wondering what she was thinking about him as she seemed to make it so obvious that she was. He decided to keep the questions to himself. "I'm sure I am, too," he said with a cocky, playful grin, letting his tail just gently tap her haunches in a joking manner as she trotted to his side.
With a smile, he shrugged. "Suit yourself," he told her, turning his head the slightest bit to look at her. "Don't starve yourself though. If you need food, just come and get me," he added, his smile fading, but his voice still holding a playful note. His head pivoted frontwards again, his eyes remaining on an invisible path he'd walked on numerous times in the past. However the sudden serious note in her voice forced his gaze to flick back towards the ivory pelt of K'tarni. His brows furrowed, and the corners of his mouth went down ever so slightly.
He wouldn't admit it to her, but her words actually did offend him. Obviously his questions didn't need to be voiced. He didn't want to be known as a stone-cold Alpha, who was too busy worrying about the well being of his pack to actually enjoy their company. He wanted to be known as someone his pack could come to, relate to and easily talk about their problems without them feeling like he was analyzing them. He opened his mouth to retort, defend himself in some form, but his thoughts reached his mind for the words reached his mouth. He said nothing for a short time, considering what she'd said. Looking away, he gave a curt nod of recognition and a bit of defiant agreement. "It is part of the job..." His voice trailed off slowly. "But that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to have fun," he added with a sly grin, his neck outstretching to catch her ear gently in his mouth. After a soft tug, he released and trotted forward a few steps, his tail wagging and encouraging her to catch up.
It was about time he loosened up. [/blockquote]

Her serious expression lifted effortlessly from her features and a rather angelic smile took its place. It was as if she could feel the air around them grow warmer and more relaxed. This was her element, this was how she preferred to function. She breathed a sigh of contentment and continued to match his pace as they strolled across the meadowland. She flicked her tail back at him playfully and then narrowed her eyes at his cocky tone, keeping a straight face for at least a few seconds before grinning. By now she had stopped analysing, she had subconsciously forgotten about trying to figure him out but the faint curiosity still stubbornly remained.
She couldn't hold her tongue for long, and although her statement was unnecessary, she still decided to voice it regardless "Reading your mind would be interesting." She mused somewhat absently. She poked her tongue out at him playfully before turning her attention elsewhere as if the statement needed no further discussion. At the mention of him getting her food, she laughed softly "It's okay, I can just continue to live off what I can find. Plus, aren't I the one that's supposed to bring you food?" She winked light-heartedly "At your service, sir." She dipped her head to him and smiled.
For a moment, her brow furrowed. She could sense that her comments had struck something beneath the mass of brown fur. She bit her tongue anxiously at the thought of pushing her luck too far. As he spoke, her eyes filled with remorse. She looked to the ground in guilt but to her surprise his tone changed. She looked up just in time for his jaws to lock around her ear. She released a delighted squeal of surprise before laughing and swatting him away with her paw.
She growled playfully "No you aren't! There is no fun allowed here." She stamped her paw "Only I can have fun." She turned her nose up at him mischievously before quickening her pace and dancing off into the snow. She was careful with her footing, the snow could hide many dangerous things, including... plonk! A patch of snow gave way to K'tarni's weight and she fell into a shallow hole. Her first instinct was to regain her footing and shake the snow that had fallen over her. She leapt from the ditch in a swift, fluid movement and took a few steps away. Her second instinct was to check that Caden hadn't run into the same trouble "I'm okay!" She laughed and cautiously picked her way back to him.

He could almost sense the wheels turning in her mind as she tried to figure him out. It was a bit irritating, he came to discover. Part of him wanted to impress her, put on a show so her findings would be all good. However, the more he pondered over it the more he came to realize that she should know the true Caden. That was when he'd decided to let his barriers drop. Either way, she would never be able to interpret him. Sometimes Caden couldn't even interpret himself. Why should he have to worry about her finding the real him? She would never discover what was hidden beneath the cool, calm, collected composure that he constantly managed to keep displayed on his prominent features. She would never know; Caden may never know.
His eyes narrowed as a smile toyed with the blackened corners of his lips, urging them upwards. Though her statement was meant to be discarded, he couldn't help ponder over it, if only for a moment. He snorted with a slight sneer. "It would also be very irritating," he remarked, the tone of his voice hinting towards the dropping of this certain topic. However he still began to think through it. What would it be like to have absolutely no privacy whatsoever. He shook the thought from his mind. It was impossible, so what was the point in wasting precious time thinking about it actually happening? He smiled at her next remark. "I think I'm perfectly capable of getting my own food, thank you," he said, his tone slightly conceited. He lifted his nose in the air in a stuck up manner. Of course, it was all just for play. He smiled and lowered his head with a soft laugh.
When Caden had distanced himself enough from K'tarni he wheeled around with quick speed so his eyes were on her crumpled form. He could help but laugh. He was sure she was fine so he waited for her to get up. "Maybe if you can manage to stay on your feet you could have fun," he said with a sly grin. [/blockquote]
