I-Spy with my little eye, something that begins with 'I don't care'
Icarus had been silent for months.
Not even a growl as he hunted, or a word to any stranger he had met. No, he had been silent for many, many weeks and he'd liked it. Right up until now, when he'd stumbled across this valley in the spitting rain and smelt the two packlands. It had a distinct scent of competition and Icarus was finally vaguely interested in spending some time with other wolves.
He cleared his throat slightly, shaking his black fur despite the fact more rain would be replacing whatever he shook out just seconds later. Then he looked up and around, following the river down the land until he was about a quater of the way down, paws sinking into the thick riverbank mud.
Yes, he'd been silent, right up until he found the Moons wolf. A few brisk nods and minimal words had gotten him into the pack, his hostile and abrasive personality shining clearly through. He paused in the mud and stared out at the rushing river, wondering what to do with his day.

Justyn hadn't met this wolf yet. He'd seen him wandering around the Moon's territory, and had realized that he was a newcomer to the pack. Well, there was nothing else for Justyn to do, beside dwell on his anxieties - but he had already had enough of that for the past few days. Maybe all he needed was a new conversation to get him thinking about something new.
Justyn padded out of his cover and began to follow the river upstream, realizing that he was probably clearly visible now. Which was good. He wasn't trying to sneak up on him and start a fiasco.
He paused when he was a couple yards away.
"The name's Justyn," he greeted with a mellow tone. Normally he'd be a bit more gruff, but ever since his falling out with his sister, he was feeling restless and out of energy.
"Who're you?" he asked bluntly, eyeing Icarus with a critical eye.

Nami herself was on a hunting expedition, and when she saw the two males approach each other, she was on guard. The newest wolf to Falling Moon, whose name she didnt know yet, she had heard was agressive. Of course it wasnt her place to interrupt, but when the males acted hot headed, she had no choice.
Putting her kill to the side when she was nearly finished with it, she began to watch the goings on. She hoped nothing would break out, knowing there was little she could, against Justyn at least, she knew next to nothing about the other one. Nami closed her eyes and yawned.

Falling Moon was exactly the sort of place Icars needed to be. He'd grown up following his two brothers, and neither of them were particularly 'good' no matter how deluded his previous pack had been. He almost growled at the thought. He was so much better off here.
Reminded that he'd just been spoken to, Icarus looked up at Justyn and narrowed his black eyes at him. The Beta, obviously, and bigger than him. Icarus was by no means small, but so many of these vicious wolves were massive in size. Icarus was content to be average sized; he could kill any wolf if he had enough incentive.
"Icarus." he replied evenly, eyeing up the other wolf. Younger than him, but no less full of hate. He had that hard-edged look about him like he'd been through a lot, but frankly, what wolf hadn't? He nodded his head respectively. "Got something to say?"

Justyn grinned at Icarus. Already he was quite an interesting character; nippy speech, but this fellow definately knew where he stood. Sometimes Justyn enjoyed a little fight with other non-negotiable pack members, but it was really wolves like Icarus that he would ever show an inkling of respect for.
So he did. At least, on the inside, so to speak. Keeping his grin as casual as he could manage, Justyn edged over to the very bank of the river, only to stand on top a damp and large boulder. It gave him some higher ground. Not that there was a reason he really needed to.
"Sure, I've got lots of things to say. One, why are you here? And two, you look kind of like a raccoon to me. And if you want something more from me, then here's something else: welcome to the worst pack you could ever join." He hummed a chuckle, wondering how Icarus would react to his blunt statements and query. It was always interesting to give somebody an evaluation if you were new to their personality.
He glanced to his right, only to notice someone else was watching them. He gave Nami a hard look, but ignored her instead of chasing her off. If she wanted to join the conversation, then he wouldn't hold out on some more fun. He could use some fun today.

Icarus watched with a kind of boredom, which could only be seen as patronising if you'd known him for a long time, as Justyn climbed onto higher ground. Both of his older brothers had been like that, but Icarus was the last wolf to be clambering onto higher ground to pretend it was a metaphor for being higher than everyone else in life. Also, Icarus knew his place, and he was content with being whatever he was. So he watched Justyn with a small smirk.
"I'm here because apparently, hate-filled wolves are drawn to this pack like vultures to a carcass," he drawled matter-of-fact. "So you're pretty much preaching to the choir here. At least this pack knows it's only functional because it's dysnfunctional. The worst thing is when you're in a pack that pretends to be the best thing out there when really it's just as screwed up as this one."
"As for looking like a raccoon, I'll have you know it's all the rage to be part-raccoon these days. My name's Icarus, and is that all you got?" his smirk grew wider. Justyn didn't seem so bad, he could've run into someone a lot worse. He seemed a little self-righteous, which was always fun.
