Onisim paced the sloped clearing furiously, his paws leaving heavy footprints set in the soggy, silty ground. Constant sheets of drizzling rain drove into the clearing at an angle - the place had little shelter, but Onisim was not fussed about that. He had plenty of fur to keep him warm, even if he was almost soaked to the skin. His dark-brown pelt had been turned black as it absorbed the rain water, giving him a rather dark and disturbed look.
Where was his father? His father, the idiot. His father, the weak one. His father, seemingly ready to hand over power to a power-grabbing fae who wasn't even part of the family. The moment Onisim had seen Duke and Myu together, even from a distance, he'd been angry. It wasn't so much that Duke had found a replacement for his mother already, although that stung too, but how weak Duke had obviously become.
Since Onisim had returned, it had always been clear in his mind that one day, Duke would hand over the Falling Moon crown to his only remaining son, wo was clearly the fittest of his offspring to lead the pack in the future. Rose was traumatized, Iris was too kind-hearted, Tallulah was too self-absorbed, but Onisim was strong enough the be the heir to the Falling Moon throne.
But now it appeared that Myu had decided to mess everything up in an attempt to gain power for herself. How could his father be so stupid as the fall for her tricks? It was obvious that as soon as Duke became too weak to rule, Myu would be perfectly lined up. But no, Onisim didn't plan to let this happen. He needed to act, now - before everything was ruined; including his pack and his family.

Duke padded into the clearing, the great mass of his body rolling like a bear's as he lumbered over the cold, wet uneven ground. Autumn weather, disgusting. Still, he ignored the rain, on the whole. His winter coat hadn't come through yet, but the fur he had would protect him from the worst of the cold.
There was tension in the air. More than usual. Duke glanced up with the dark stones of his eyes, finding Onisim only a second later. His son had a kind of determined and murderous expression on his face, not doubt one that Duke often had on his face; he grimaced.
Rose hadn't taken Myu's new place in the pack well. Duke wondered whether Tallulah cared very much. Onisim must do... he wasn't all that stupid, and he wanted to be the next Alpha no doubt. Well, things changed. He wouldn't tolerate Onisim acting like a spoilt pup. He lifted his great head and growled a low greeting to his son, but there was no tone of warmth in it.

Onisim looked up apprehensively as he heard footsteps approach; footsteps that he recognised as his father's. What would he say now? He had to try and make Duke see what a fool he has become, but it was difficult as Onisim was never that good with words. Plus, he had only returned recently - did he really want to be starting family feuds so soon after they were reunited? But then again, he had to act now, before it was too late. Before Myu took over completely.
Onisim did not return his father's greeting - instead he let out a low, threatening growl. "What the hell are you playing at?" His voice was heavy and threatening, like some sort of medieval weapon personified. In fact, Onisim's entire appearance was heavy and threatening. His muscles were tensed in his anger, and he wasn't about to back down and behave respectfully.
"You'll ruin the pack. She'll ruin the pack," he continued, failing to mention Myu's name as it was fairly obvious, in his eyes, who he was referring to. How long had Onisim been away, so t Duke's mind could be reduced to such idiotic behaviour? The father Onisim had respected before seemed to have changed - before, he would have never questioned any of his father's behaviour. But now... [/size]

Duke snarled in return, stepping forwards with his own muscles tensed. He knew Onisim's size would cause a problem at some point. He was around the same size as Duke- but Duke had a hell of a lot of experience backing him up at this point. He narrowed his dark eyes.
"Control your tongue, pup, before I rip it out," he snarled terrifyingly again, lifting his head up to his full height. The rain drove into him from an irritating angle, but he hardly noticed now.
"Ruin the pack? You idiot. We'll lead the pack to a better victory. We'll drive Caden's stupid stars wolves all the way out this time. We won't just have the better land, we'll have the whole valley." Duke retorted loudly, every inch of his tone believing in what he was saying.
"Myu is just as ruthless as I am. Perhaps more. And the difference is, I loved her to begin with- unlike your mother," Duke called out, still snarling deep in his chest. He thought that one wouldn't go down so well, but the pup had to learn.
"So I suggest you back down now, Onisim. I know what I'm doing."

Onisim's black eyes grew thunderous as his father called his a pup. No-one had been that patronising to him, since long before the earthquake occurred. With such a big build, he'd always been treated in a more adult manner than most his age, in it angered him that at the very point when he was trying to make his father take what he was saying seriously, he should be called a pup.
"Ruthless?" Onisim repeated furiously, his hackles raising as he snarled his next sentence. "She's seen how downhill you've gone and has decided to take advantage of your lack of strength, more like!" He started to pace forwards and headed automatically in a threatening, circular motion around his father.
At the mention of his mother, Onisim purposefully jolted Duke, roughly hitting him on the shoulder with his own shoulder as he walked past. Onisim had never been amazingly fond of Anevay, as he'd known she'd never been amazingly fond of him either, but if Duke thought saying something like that would make him back down, he was wrong. Duke wasn't the type of wolf to mumur on until an enemy decided to back down- it was fight now, ask questions later. Onisim obviously had just as much of a problem with Anevay as Rose did. But the difference between a confrontational Rose and a confrontational Onisim was the fact that Duke was not afraid to fight -and very possibly hurt- Onisim.
Onisim would learn as Duke learnt.
Duke launched himself at his son as soon as he was jolted, leaving out the messy middle part of circling around 'threateningly'. Stupid, childish waste of time in a situation like this, Duke thought to himself, before taking advantage of Onisim's turned back and attempting to sink his teeth into his son, and teach him a lesson about standing up to the Alpha. The hard way.

As soon as Onisim felt Duke's canines sink into his back, he let out a furious snarl and automatically lifted his shoulder blades in an attempt to ram it into Duke's jaw. Using his bulky muscles, he went to throw Duke away from himself so he could turn around and be face to face with his opponent. He didn't really care that he was fighting a family member - it was his way of making a point.
He was surprised that Duke would start a fight while his opposition's back was turned - he considered it a pretty cowardly thing to do, even if it was practical. Although the wolf was leader of the Falling Moons, a pack that consisted of wolves lacking altogether in morals, he'd have thought that Duke would have had better standards than that. Onisim's opinion of the older wolf was falling rapidly, ever since he'd heard about Duke and Myu. [/blockquote]

Duke had never been a wolf of high morals. The very basic was there, such as not attacking pups or killing excessively. He had a surprising amount of restraint, but beyond that his moral compass always spun horrible off point. This was the reason he'd had no problem ripping Cocoa down from her position as Alpha when Shaye had left. He didn't tolerate the weak.
And Onisim was being weak. And stupid. Every wolf had to learn that life went on, and Anevay would know that Duke would not wait around for her. He only believed what he saw, and since she had been away for a year he had come to the only conclusion he could fathom; she was dead. Myu had always been there, hidden in the deepest pit of his mighty black heart, all it took was some surfacing of long dead emotions.
Duke felt Onisim's shoulderblades collide with his mouth, and he jumped backwards to avoid further injury. Jumping was not the most graceful of moves, but Duke didn't need to worry about grace. He was sheer power, like Onisim, and he didn't feel pain easily- but he had experience on his side. He landed with a thump, taking the weight on his legs, before throwing his force back into them and jumping straight at Onisim's face, teeth bared and skin wrinkled up under his eyes as he snarled and attempted to pummel his teeth into the side of his son's head.
