It was a nice day. Sun shone through the leaved branches, rays shining right on a wolf that was lying half out of a makeshift den made from roots of a large tree. Her fur shone in the light, green eyes hidden behind closed eyelids, but not for long. They fluttered open at the sunlight and she stood up slowly, muscles aching from the way she was lying. Yawning and stretching, rear end raising in the air. She yawned again, slipping out of the den with a certain grace you’d expect from a ballet dancer if she were human. Shaking any dirt from her fur, Iris glanced about I case any cruel loner was about. She didn’t need any strangers a second after she woke up. Looking about again, just in case, Iris wandered off from her temporary den for some breakfast.
She wandered, making se to keep to the forest. All she wanted was a little creature, a mouse would suffice. She smelled the air for any prey, and she caught the heavy scent of mice. Iris snuck closer, and spotted a few mice trying to get back to their home. She grinned, sharp teeth gleaming, and she launched herself at the clueless creatures. The female was quite confident that she’d get one, if not two to cure her hunger. She dived straight at the fattest one, trapping it between her jaws and clawed at a smaller one that attempted to get away. It escaped between her claws with the others, but the plump mouse was now dead in her mouth. Feeling rather triumphant, she sat down and let the mouse drop by her paws. She poked at it with a claw, making sure it really was dead, and smiled when she found out it was.
Iris didn’t hesitate to dig into the carcass. She finished it off to the bone, licking the blood from her maw and teeth so they were at least acceptable looking. She glanced down at the bones, pawing at them and smiled, amused. She pawed at it again childishly, giggling softly. It was surprising how easy it was to amuse her, although company was always better… She sighed a bit, sitting straight and putting the paw neatly beside the other. She looked round, hoping for some sort of company to come.

As usual, when Oberon had nothing else to do, he was flying through the forest. Pumping his legs, paw in front of paw stretching out below him like a blur, he was darting forwards. He couldn't really remember crossing Star Stream into No Man's Land, he must've been concentrating on his thoughts at the time, but he could scent the neutral smell of No Man's Land now.
It took one small glimpse at the brilliant sunshine filtering down through the leaves to confirm his thoughts. The sun didn't shine through the trees like that in the Stars land- it was never so beautiful during the day.
Although he was making a lot of noise, he managed to sneak up on what must have been a partially deaf rabbit. Surprised it had made it this far in life, being deaf, Oberon's stomach growled automatically and he made a last-minute decision to leap. The rabbit heard him in time to flee, but he was hot in pursuit.
He pushed his legs, watching the rabbit disappear through a gap under a fallen tree trunk, and Oberon jumped to clear the log. With one swift push of his legs, he plunged through the undergrowth and bared his teeth.
He landed on the rabbit and sunk his teeth in quickly for a fast death- no need to play with your food. A moment later he skidded to a stop, panting heavily, and he dropped the rabbit. He inhaled to enjoy the lovely smell of a job-well-done.
Oberon looked up, startled, as another scent entered his dark, wet nose. He looked around and then he spotted her- this female wolf who must've heard, if not seen, a great portion of his hunt. He coughed, and dipped his head in greeting, feeling a little embarrassed to be caught acting so triumphantly.

At the sound of scuffling, clearly some animal running for its life and, by the sound of it, something chasing it. Probably a wolf, it was the only thing Iris could think of at the top of her head. She looked up quickly, wondering if they had noticed her childish act while hunting. Probably not, considering their eyes were set on the fearful rabbit. Iris watched intently, back straight and shoulders tense for the wolf. He was probably going to get the rabbit, but there was a chance it could get away.
Iris smiled when Oberon got the rabbit dead on. She felt happy for the stranger, although she quickly stopped herself from feeling that and frowned. The female wasn’t used to having freedom now. She could be happy for anyone, she was a loner now, she could enjoy life and not feel the angry glare of her father or mother drill holes into her back. She just wished she knew they were okay… Her smile quickly returned, but it was pained.
Iris only laughed a little, a sweet laugh that a young wolf like her could make, when he noticed her. She stood up slowly, glancing at the bones of the mouse and pawed them away, as if they were no toy to her. She walked towards him slowly, just in case he was more fierce than he looked, and stopped a few paws away from him. “Nice hunt.” she complimented, gesturing at the rabbit, then remembered a thing called introductions, “I’m Iris. And you are…?”

Oberon chuckled slightly as well, smiling a little in return. She seemed very pretty, and her relaxed body language somehow told him that she was a sweetheart. He enjoyed being perceptive- it often saved a lot of time. For example, now, he perceived that she was not the type to jump at your throat for interrupting the peace.
"Well, hello Iris. Sorry for disturbing you," he dipped his head again in a gentlemanly way, half-smiling a little wider when he looked up. "I'm Oberon."
He waited a moment, then glanced down at the rabbit, deciding what to do. He was definitely too polite to flop down right there and dig into a rabbit carcass with a lady present, so he nudged it towards her a little.
"Care for Rabbit-à-la-Oberon?" he joked slightly, golden brown eyes watching her again.

Iris shook her head. He was certainly not disturbing her, in fact, he had saved her from boredom before it even came. Oberon? That was an interesting name, but she kept her thoughts to herself. She kept her little smile, pleased that he was a gentlemen. The little head-bow made her happy, she hadn’t had someone dip their head to her in a while. But that was the stuck up heiress part of Iris talking.
She laughed a bit at the joke. It was a lovely thought, but she had already ate and she enjoyed her slim figure. She wasn’t really hungry, anyway. “No thank you. You deserve it for that impressive hunt.” she replied, joking a bit on the ‘impressive hunt’. Iris was joking in a good way, though, and she hoped Oberon would understand. Iris sat down again, feeling more comfortable like that. Oberon seemed like a friendly guy anyway.

Oberon smiled again, seeing that she liked it when he was gentlemanly. Most wolves didn't take note of the way a wolf's eyes lit up at something they liked, but it was very easy to see if you were used to looking for it. He glanced down at the rabbit.
"Not much of a hunt really, I think the rabbit was deaf," he frowned, and shrugged. If it wasn't him, it would've been someone else. He glanced up again, apologetic for eating in front of her, and settled down to tuck into the carcass.
He looked up again, licking the blood from around his lips. The wind was whistling through his bronze fur pleasantly. "So, what're you doing out here, Iris? You're a loner, I assume," he guessed, almost knowing it was correct. "Any mate? Family?" he asked curiously, but in a tone that suggested she didn't have to talk about anything too seriously; he was being conversational.

Ritbant padded through the Forest, the sun shining pleasantly on his back, making his red fur glow like flames, and his one black ear blacker. He wasn't hunting, just enjoying the day. His eyes were half closed, but he was ready to spring into action at less than an instants notice. He walked lazily, but he stiffened when he heard voices ahead. He was in a good mood, so he shrugged and continued forward.

Iris’ smile didn’t leave. Something about Oberon made it stay, although perhaps it was just because she had some sort of company. She could tell he was sorry for eating in front of her, but she didn’t care. Oberon must’ve been hungry, she wasn’t, so it was all good. The wind sent shivers up her spine, but she enjoyed the cool feeling soon after and looked round when she heard footsteps, but then returned her gaze to Oberon.
“Yes, I’m a loner.” she hesitated, “Family? Well, I wish I knew for sure.” She sounded very sad at that part, and the smile was now forced. Iris didn’t mean to be sad, in case it ruined Oberon’s mood, so she attempted to be as optimistic as possible. “No mate, no… I know I have a family. Although where they are for sure, I don’t know.” she added, making a mental note to meet one of them later. Especially Taku, she felt so protective of him now.
Ears twitching at the sound of pawsteps again, Iris looked round and noticed Ritbant. She smiled again, tail wagging at the sight of more company. “Hello!”

Oberon glanced around to see the russet wolf appear as well. Two's company, three's a party. He found it difficult to stay laying and eat the rabbit when another male walked up, some deep-rooted instinct told him to stand up and protect himself more in case the other loner was vicious and sadistic. Still, mind won over instinct, and Oberon finished off the rabbit when Iris was saying hello. He was mulling over what she'd been saying.
He sat up and dipped his head to Ritbant, once again licking the blood from his maw before it dried. "Hello," he said evenly, not being friendly before he knew what the other wolf was like. Oberon was quite a cautious wolf, really. His ears flicked, and he wondered what they'd do if the wolf was sadistic- would he protect his new acquaintance Iris? Hmm. The gentlemanly side of him told him he would, no doubt, protect her if they were attacked any moment soon.
Not forgetting the possibility of attack, rather pushing it to the back of his mind, Oberon turned back to Iris. "Lost your family?" he mused aloud. "Sounds as if you might be from the old valley. Empyrean, was it?" He looked her over, deciding that there was no way she could've been a Moons wolf- she was, after all, very nice. "Did you know a lot of the wolves from that valley have found this one? I'm actually in the new Stars pack, myself. The Moons have been set up again. What was the Alpha's name? Jukes? Duke? Something like that," he shrugged, glancing at Ritbant again and then back at Iris.

Ritbant nodded in a friendly greeting, approving of the cautious approach of the male, although he knew it wasn't really his business if he was cautious or not. He wasn't hungry, so he pushed the male fight instinct down with no effort. He bowed his head to Iris, not as submissive, but as a friendly greeting. His eyes stayed wary though. He hadn't survived as a Loner for as long as he had for being lazy and trusting. "Hello. A pleasure to meet you both." His voice was polite, but there was something in it that warned of steel. He wasn't threatening, but it was the way he was. He had scented the scent of pack about the male, but the female was, he was sure, a Loner.

Iris was completely relaxed, looking back at Oberon. She was a bit too trusting when it came to strangers, and her ear twitched as she spoke to him. She attempted to keep a calm expression, but she couldn’t hide her grin as he mentioned the old valley, and Iris nodded to confirm it. New Dancing Stars, it was strange hearing it. To be honest, she hadn’t heard the name for a year, and she almost forgot who they were. Remembering about Caden, who could forget seeing as he shared the name with the valley, she hesitated. Iris didn’t doubt Caden in any way, she had no reason to, but she wondered if he was any different from Caerwyn. Was he more interested in claiming land than him? She didn’t know, and wasn’t keen on finding out.
“His name’s Duke.” she confirmed quickly, feeling a little insulted he couldn’t remember her father’s name. He probably couldn’t tell she was his daughter though, they were so different. Iris wondered if Duke truly loved her, or if it was just an act so he wouldn’t have the same of having a child leave his own pack. Although was having a soft daughter stay in the pack more embarrassing? Iris pondered. “I’d tell Caden to be more alert than he is… Dad’s very keen on getting rid of competition quickly.” it was a habit calling Duke ‘dad’ or ‘daddy’(although she preferred the first one).
She looked at Ritbant, her smile confident. “Pleasure. My name’s Iris.” she introduced herself, glancing at Oberon at the corner of her eye. She hoped the two would be civil.

Ritbant smiled at the female uncertainly, confused that she trusted someone that easily. But trust was new to him, since he hadn't really experienced it that often, and he liked new experiences, so he sat down gently from where he had been standing, tongue lolling. "So, Iris. I've smelled you around. Loner, right?" He wasn't trying to exclude Oberon. He was cautiously happy to see these two wolves. He had found himself mellowing towards other wolves lately, and he wouldn't say no to a bit of company.

ooc. Post limit is 100 words, Ritbant, please try to remember that. Try putting a little more detail into Ritbant's movements or his thoughts, that's how I get my posts longer (:
Oberon, as he was not being addressed, was left to chew over Iris's words. Firstly, the opposing pack's leader's name- Duke. Unexpectedly, she also happened to mention that she was his daughter. Oberon frowned, tilting his head forward. Luckily this new loner, Ritbant, was commanding her attention so Oberon could compose himself.
But she was so nice. And all those Falling Moons were known for their aggression- Iris looked so gentle, and pretty, and good hearted. How had that monster Duke possible bred a sweetheart like her?
He was still frowning, but he looked away in thought.
