Flare wandered through the lands. It seemed this pack was not as tightly close as others. She strode to a small puddle, and looked down. Her reflection only showed half her face. A tiny tear trickled down her muzzle. "I miss you mom." She whispered, raising her muzzle to the sky. A mournful howl escaped her, she opened her eyes, and stared up to the blue nothingness that ever so slowly was growing darker. The first star stared down at her. Her mother told her that everytime a wolf dies, one more star is added to the sky. "I know you're up there mom, why'd you have to help with that last hunt? Why'd you have to leave me?" Flare hung her head, then it whipped around when she heard footsteps behind her.

The footsteps had belonged to none other than Layla. No she hadn't been following Flare on purpose or anything no not that. She had been nearby when she faintly heard the sound of Flare's voice on the wind. Next she had heard the howl so she had decided to see who it was making the noises. She had trotted uphill a little slowing to a walk when she saw Flare. She listened as she approached, the other wolf seemed to be talking to someone but there was no other wolf in sight. Puzzled Layla had slowed but then not wanting to scare Flare or seem like she was listening on purpose she started walking again making her footfalls more heavy so that the other wolf would hear her.
Once Flare did hear her and whip around to face her Layla was still quite far away from her. She stopped uncertainly and looked towards the other wolf waiting for her to do something.
