Stories and warnings. Death and worry. That's all that was really known to him about this place. An area in his pack land that he didn't know much about. That angered Duma. How could he not know? He wanted to learn about everything including this area. The thought of learning more. Gaining some valuable knowledge enticed him. It made the male forget all about the warnings. He didn't care if wolves have disappeared from this land. They just were not careful. He would be. He would take all the precaution needed to survive for awhile in this desolate marsh and learn about the vegetation and species that lived in this ecosystem. It would be a fun little adventure. He loved going out and learning like this. Even if it could threaten his life. That just made it more interesting.
There wasn't much to the land though. He entered when the sun was reaching it's peak but he couldn't see the sun anymore. That didn't matter he knew he was only in here for a little, maybe an hour or so. And so far he could only see dense trees and vines along with mostly reptilian or amphibious species, along with a few avians of course but that was it so far. The types of reptiles he could see along with amphibians were small. Lizards, toads, snakes that size. but he was only on land. If he could find some murky water he betted on finding a crock or alligator. He didn't want to have to fight one but if he could find one he would study it. That was pretty much it. That's what his day would contain. Studying.
he soon found what he was looking for. A nice, murky water source. It was nice and large. Good flow but you couldn't tell how deep it was. It could be a few inches to a couple meters. He didn't expect it to be really deep but you never know. That's why he decided to test his luck and jump straight into the middle of the river. the splash was loud enough for any predator to hear but he didn't care much about that. He would get to study them before darting off. He looked at his muddy white pelt and laughed. He looked like crap and loved it. It was a nice earthy look to him. It hid him too. The white pelt was a little too bright for a marsh now he looked like he belonged there.
He began wading through the water. His speed was slow but it gave him time to thoroughly check his surroundings. All just trees and more trees. "Such a lovely view" He chuckled slightly. He had to joke around to keep his spirit up. This place was down right creepy so a joke or two might liven up things. He dove into the water for a second. When he came up mostly all of his white fur was covered in mud. 'perfect' He wouldn't be seen so easily now. He tried to speed up but didn't get too far. The water was really bad. He looked over to the bank and headed for it but was stopped by a snake. He killed it before it could bite him and brought it with him to shore.
He sat down after walking away from the bank. He was still close to the water. Using his claws he gently cut the snake open to examine it's organs. "Oh my little friend you are a great specimen." he looked in the snake until he found the heart and cut all below it off. That was what he ate but he kept the heart, lungs and the brain. Those were to be buried and that's what he did. He didn't know why but he always did this after examining some animal. It just made him feel good to do so. That was the only reasoning he needed. He rolled onto his back and looked up. "Now what should I do? Not much here but I don't feel like leaving just yet." He smiled.
He stayed in this position for long period of time. It was all he really wanted to do. Just sit down and relax. Hopefully a predator wouldn't find him like this. It could turn out bad and explaining the reason of his death was him laying on his back would be an awkward yet funny conversation. He turned his head left to right. Still nothing. He sighed. "well this turned really fun really fast." He closed his eyes and listened to everything around him. It was quiet but the sound of a frog or some buzzing insects entered his head now and again.
