I am done with my graceless heart So tonight I'm gonna cut it out and then restart 'Cause I like to keep my issues drawn It's always darkest before the dawn Rose was finding her feet again, slowly. She hadn't seen her pups for some time, but the oddest rumour was circulating. Something about Bion joining the Falling Moons. Yet if that were true, she would have expected him to find her. Why else would he have come back? A niggling worry in her mind felt that it were true, and in light of the Caden kidnapping Rose couldn't blame her son for joining the stronger side of the fight. But the whole operation was so messy and muddled. She wanted to clear her head of it, to get out of the lands. She was impervious to the hostility within the Moons pack, being a Moons wolf born and bred, but sometimes it was nice to seek out No Man's Land. She didn't fear meeting a vicious loner or a vindictive Stars wolf, she knew she could hold her own. Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back So shake him off, oh whoa To clear her mind Rose had gone for a walk. Or, more specifically, her walk had turned into a run. As she stretched her long pearly legs and took deep breaths, developing an old rhythm the likes of which she hadn't achieved in years. When she thought about it, she remembered how Raiden and she had always been old souls. Content to take things slowly, to ease the pace of life. Since his death Rose was honouring his memory by finding herself again. Finding her youth. After all, she was only a few years old. Two litters had made her feel otherwise until now, but as she ran she felt her body loosen and stretch and she smiled. She found her way past the borders and into No Man's Land, straight towards the sunshine through the dappled red and gold leaves. She stopped, panting, feeling the autumn breeze catch in her fur and she closed her eyes. Lifting her face to the cool midday sun, she felt completely at peace. And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back And given half the chance would I take any of it back It's a fine romance but it's left me so undone It's always darkest before the dawn

Food was the only thing on her mind as she crouched down hidden by thick coarse brush left behind by spring. The leaves were all sort of beautiful shades of golden, red, orange and yellow. As they fell from the trees the leave would pass through strands of sunlight on the outer edge of the clearing which is exactly were Saki was hidden. She had been here for a short while just watching and awaiting her opportunity.
Two growing fawns were following their young mother. With her inexperience Saki had so far gone unnoticed as the trio grazed in the lush moist grass. She took an anxious step closer, her whole body was shivering with anticipation as she watched the twins begin to run around in careless play. Now was her time, ears lowered to her skull as she took another quiet step forward. She was just about ready to spring as the smaller of the twins ran closer to her hiding spot. But the young mother had caught a dangerous scent in the breeze which in turn sent the trio fleeing back into the forest.
Saki let out a long deflated sigh as she straightened up and shook her coat out to relieve herself of the leaves and dust that had fallen on her. Ears perked at the scent which she instantly recognized to be her mother and she took off towards her. She hadn’t seen her in a while and she felt the excitement bubbling up inside her. Saki had started to grow into her paws a little but was rather awkwardly lanky. This included her long white legs, and a body she hadn’t fully filled out yet.
After her father’s death she hadn’t spent much time with her mother or brother. She didn’t know most of her family and she wasn’t sure she wished to. She didn’t miss her father all that much, she never had really gotten to know him or make any lasting memories. She understood the loss all the same and was definitely in need of companionship. She hadn’t met really any other wolves since she was a young pup and she could hardly remember then. After just a minute or two of running the scent had gotten stronger, filling her with the comforting scent of her mother. “Mom….I missed you.” That was all she could blurt out as she came to a standstill just a couple feet away from Rose.

As Rose basked a familiar and homely voice stuttered such emotion that it took the white wolf a moment to answer. She turned to face her daughter almost instantly, ears perked, wondering what on earth had brought on such a show of emotion. And despite the enjoyment in her solitude, her thoughts of youth and happiness, Rose was predominantly a mother. And a damned good one.
"Oh Saki," she smiled, approaching her daughter and offering a lick across her cheek. She stood back and wondered what they must look like, the two white females so similar in shape and demeanour. Rose looked at her daughter and considered her adolescence. When I was her age, I was falling in love with Raiden, she considered curiously.
"You never need to miss me. I don't go far," she reminded Saki, sitting down gently. She briefly checked the ground around her to check it wasn't too dirty. Rose had always been considerably proud of her appearance and had never apologised for this fact. She set her dark eyes upon Saki again and smiled. "Although it has been a while. Have you been thinking a lot?"

A light smile appeared on her face at her mother’s lick. Saki wasn’t afraid to show her emotion unlike others in her family. She didn’t wear her heart on her sleeve but as Rose sat Saki’s tail wagged back and forth ever so gently as she appreciated her mother. She was always there, like a steadfast reminder that nothing should stop you from moving forward in life. Even after her father’s death, Rose didn’t abandon Saki or her other offspring.
Saki loved that fact that she looked similar to her mother, she hoped to accomplish unexpected great things with her life and one of those was being as great a mother as Rose was. She nodded as her eyes focused on her mothers and returned her smile. “Yes….I was hoping to get your opinion mom.” She paused for a moment, not sure of how to go on. She didn’t exactly understand the reasoning behind everything but she was starting to get a little wiser with her growing older. She started to continue after a short moment of silence.
“Do you think I belong with you and granddad in the Moons?” That had been her inner storm since she started to think about her father’s death. She wasn’t always driven to fight, she saw it as a necessary skill, but so far she hadn’t gotten any enjoyment from it. Rose’s opinion mattered to Saki, more than anyone elses.

Rose considered herself not to be overbearing, or too instructive, in her motherhood. After a certain age she'd always allowed her pups to go their own way, forge their own path in life. As long as they were safe and happy she felt at peace. However, she had always known the importance of fighting your own battles. This was knowledge that she'd never been afraid to impart on her offspring, and she believed that they had always understood this. Saki's question found its way straight to Rose's heart, as she was always more emotionally open around her pups, but as usual she processed all information with her rather impressive mind.
"Belonging is an entirely subjective idea," she started, considering the idea herself before she continued. She knew that Saki felt fairly deeply and wasn't afraid to show it, but Rose only considered that a weakness if she became self-conscious about it. In fact, Rose was proud that despite their appearances, Saki was very different from her. Rose had been lying since she could first control her speech, a skill of hers that developed into full mind and body control in every situation. Even now when she was being honest and open with her daughter she knew that she could change if she wanted to. Switch into another character.
"You don't need to be vicious or violent to belong here, you know. Don't think that for a minute. Have you ever seen me fight?" she smiled again, eyes glinting darkly. "You just have to hold your own. You have to be happy. But I understand your concerns, I felt the same things not too long ago."

She listened intently as her mother spoke, the cogs in her brain turning rapidly. Her words made sense and she smiled playfully back at her mother as she gave a firm nod. “You always have been dependable on matters like this.” She rolled her shoulders and stretched out her legs while digging her claws into the rather soft and pliable ground.
A part of her wasn’t sure if she wanted to stay with her mother and most of her other family in the Moons or not. Then again what was her other option? Either to be a loner, staying on the outskirts of the two fighting packs…..No, that just was not suitable. On the other paw she could try the Stars and see what they’re like, but that idea is a firm no go, family meant more to her she supposed. She let the thought fall from her mind for now; she decided that if her mom had found her happiness here, than why not give it a go as well. She made a silent commitment to herself to meet as many of her pack members as she could so that she could find out if she would be content living in this pack.
“How are things going for the rest of the pack?” She hadn’t heard much about pack news since she had been wandering around on the outskirts of her pack for a while and she was curious to see who was up to what. Her gaze fell to a small bird flying overhead. That would be a nice feeling, leaving the earth for as long as your wings could carry you. She almost audibly chuckled at such a silly thought.

Rose thanked her daughter for the compliment. Truthfully, Rose knew that she was dependable. For a select few she would give her life without a second thought.
"Don't fear change. And don't fear going out on a limb to seek happiness," she added thoughfully. "But never make a decision without thinking about whether or not it is truly right for you."
There she left it. She was sure Saki would think about it some more, and hopefully talk to her some more about it. The white mother felt calm in the knowledge that her daughter had sought her out for advice though. It made her feel needed. At Saki's question, she analysed her daughter's tone to try and figure out whether she knew anything at all about the kidnapping. Rose actually felt a little relieved that she hadn't been involved, by the sounds of things.
"You must've been very much keeping to yourself recently," Rose smiled a little, but there was no tone of scolding in her voice. She knew that every wolf needed their solitude at times. "Have you not heard? Caden has been kidnapped. We're holding him captive in one of the dens."
