Hm. Myu forgot to add on that he was a Delta, not an Alpha, but left it at that. S’not like Myu was going to leave Falling Moon anyway, she regretted it a bit before. She found it a bit amusing that he would want to keep her, whoever the she was, safe. Well, you would if you loved them, right? But Myu loved Duke, and she didn’t want to keep him safe. But, Myu did know he can look after himself, even if he did need Rose to do the smart bit of his job.
When Duke said those last words, she felt a little bit awkward. If she was in his position, would she feel very sad about it? Just a bit, but she was sure she wouldn’t feel sad for very long. Myu paused, wondering if this was a good thing for her mentality. Perhaps she should be more… Emotional next time. Myu thought about it, then rejected the idea immediately.
“Makes sense. I didn’t think you’d be the type of wolf to fall for a female that couldn’t take care of herself, though.” she smirked, joking. Myu knew he wasn’t being specific about it, and was suddenly curious about the kind of wolf he did like. Would it remind him of Anevay too much? If it did, he’d just have to suck it up. “What kind of female do you like?”

Duke made a face at her assumption, rolling his eyes and then sighing. It was a strange array of emotions, especially for Duke, who was usually so emotionall absent. When he was alone with Myu, it seemed to bring out this strange mushy feeling within him. Strange, but nice.
"There's a difference," he began, arranging his words carefully with a frown before continuing. "Between a female who can think for herself, and one who can take care of herself."
He shifted a little, finding it hard to explain himself. He usually didn't communicate so much. "Any female can fend for herself, if put in a threatening situation," he amended. "But take care of herself, emotionally as well? Very rare. I think even females who are very smart need a big shoulder to cry on when things get too hard."
He looked out across the land, voice becoming suddenly distant. "That's where I'd come in." he said quietly, like remembering something from a long time ago which made him sad.
He was.

She shrugged, knowing he was right. Myu didn’t like being proved wrong, though, so she spoke no more about it, feeling slightly bitter. She didn’t take her eyes off of him, though, finding it almost impossible to look away. Myu didn’t like embarrassing herself like this, but sometimes she felt like Duke would only help her up if she fell. After laughing at her, of course. She knew she would do that to him. In fact, she wouldn’t help at all. He wasn’t a baby, he was an alpha. A slightly ignorant alpha, but an alpha nonetheless.
She wondered if she was emotionally stable. She wondered if she could actually control her emotions… Well, anger was an obvious issue, and all the other feelings were hidden. Did that count? Myu felt like asking, but quickly held back and she gazed at him, slowly tilting her head to the right. Duke seemed to zone out, which was not like him. Was he remembering Anevay? Myu suddenly felt anger and jealousy burn inside her, and she crinkled her nose as if it was a waste of time to remember things. She lay down on her stomach, following Duke’s line of sight.
The female wondered if she should speak. Would she interrupt him? Probably, but that was life. Slowly looking up at him again, Myu twitched her tail, making sure it tapped his. She wouldn’t speak, but try and gain his attention without words. Ah, what the hell. “Daydreams are nice and all, but a few wolves need you in the real world too.” Oops. It just came out, but she kept her strong exterior, panicking on the inside. OHMYGOD, OHMYGOD, WHY DID I JUST SAY THAT?

Duke was drawn out of his reverie with Myu's words, and he turned to her in surprise. He couldn't be sure- he could never be sure- but she sounded as if she was talking about... could it be her? Duke's expression remained blank as the thick cogs in his head slowly fought their way in circles, churning him up inside.
Finally, he realised that she was right. He'd loved Anevay, so much, and he was regretful that he'd never told her that enough. But he couldn't change the way he was. When you were so tough on the outside, it was hard to get the feelings out. Still, he knew that he felt a lot for Myu now, even if he was finding it difficult to tell her.
It was all so complicated, but Duke wasn't going to feel guilty anymore. He was going to take a chance.
"I need you too, Myu," he said simply, looking her straight in those gorgeous dark eyes, hoping the truth of the words showed her exactly how he felt. "I've needed you for a really long time, actually. Anevay was always my love, but she was never my only love."
He stood up at that, feeling not uncomfortable but suddenly shut off. He'd expressed too much emotion today, he felt like shutting down and just resting his heart. Truly, he wanted to go and rip something's throat out, to make himself feel better. Build up that tough exterior again.
"Sorry if that makes you uncomfortable in any way. But I'm tired of avoiding it in my head and my heart, it's better just to say it out loud," Duke said, staring out across the lands and frowning. Then, a moment later, he was padding away, huge form distorted with muscles as he broke into a soft lope. He wasn't running away anymore, he was just giving her room to think. He couldn't handle it at the moment, he'd rather not put her on the spot to answer.
A few minutes later, and he was gone.

Her heart was racing, and slowly emotion began showing in her eyes. Worry, love, happiness, confusion, anger. Worried that Duke would walk away. Love for him. Happy that she had finally let it out. Confused that she had said it so soon, although it wasn’t really soon at all. Angry that she had said it without even thinking of tact. She looked back into his eyes, hearing every word he said. He needed her. He really did need her, and it took all her inner strength not to tackle him and give him one nice lick on the cheek. Myu only blinked, possibly to show that she was still alive.
Myu nodded dumbly, but it was probably not noticed as he was looking out at the land. She just stared at him, amazed he had admitted it. She suddenly felt proud. Like a winner. She had won his heart, she had always had it. It also made her feel very weird. She watched him go, opening her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. She closed her mouth quickly in case he looked round for some reason and saw her gaping at him like a fish. The corner of her lips twitched slightly.
Standing up, shaking any dirt off her coat, she stood completely straight and tall, feeling happy. She wasn’t exactly his mate yet, but she knew he liked her, and that was good enough for Myu. For now. She watched where he had disappeared into, eventually moving away from her spot. She left another way from Duke. The corners of her lips twitched even more. As Myu passed through the last ray of moonlight, a soft, pup-like smile could be spotted.
