If you don't know about Duke, you soon will. He has an incredibly short fuse when it comes to temper, and can snap at the tiniest thing. This makes him a little dangerous to be around as he is very large, and very strong. Not the brightest tool in the box, because his logic is usually clouded by anger, but he hates to be told what to do. He's got a very high opinion of himself as he was the Alpha of his previous pack, so he still carries some of his Alpha traits with him and he is not afraid to stand up to any other wolf. He is not usually affectionate, and it takes a lot to undermine his mean outer shell, but occasionally he lets his guard down around those he feels deeply for. He is incredibly protective and although he believes in letting pups make their own mistakes, he'll kill any wolf who tries to hurt his family. He has so little of his family left after the earthquake, he won't do anything to upset them if he can help it.
History:
When Duke was born, he was already at a disadvantage. He was the younger, weaker and smaller of the two pups born that night. The advantaged wolf was Kai, his elder brother. They spent a lot of time learning to fight and hunt together, but Kai always got more attention because he was just better at everything than Duke. Duke began to hate everything, his mind twisted and contorted by the taunts of never being good enough. His father was a huge white wolf with nearly black eyes, named Kehu, who was the Beta of his pack. Duke couldn't work out why he was not the Alpha, but as he became older, he realised that his father was incredibly strong but incredibly stupid.
His mother was a sad female, named Joli, who was a beautiful black and white wolf, and who had been forced to be Kehu's mate because she was a Beta. Once so full of life, the pups sapped her energy, and she eventually became a hollow shell of the vibrant being she had once been, having been condemned to a life of uselessness. Duke watched Kai leave the pack when they were young adults, to be with a pretty female Kaya. Instead of making him feel more successful, his parents ignored him even more, until one day he killed his father and walked out on the pack.
He moved from pack to pack until he found Empyrean Valley. He ended up joining a pack called the Falling Moons, and eventually taking over with another female Anevay. He loved Anevay and they had 6 pups the next spring, and another pup the spring after that. They declared war on the opposing pack, the Dancing Stars, and won their lands in a great battle. Shortly after their second litter an earthquake struck the valley and ruined the haven. Duke escaped with his two daughters, Rose and Tallulah (a year apart in age). They were the only ones of his family he found in the earthquake's aftermath. He found a few others as well, such as Justyn (the pup of his opposing Alphas) who he brought onto his side of the fight he knew he'd start sometime in the future. They travelled for a year and then established themselves in Caden Valley, once again as the Falling Moons.
At the loss of the rest of his family, and with no other obligations, Duke fell in love with Myu, a wolf who he had always had affections for. They had a litter of their own but Myu died in the early summer after giving birth. Her death has brought Duke back to his hellish moods again, feeling that nothing lasts. As he grows older he is caring less and less for his family and friends and regressing to a state of anger that he has carried with him for most of his life.
Physical Description:
Duke is absolutely huge, and said to be built more like a bear than a wolf. He's definitely designed for brute strength. When he was born he had a thick white stripe running from his nose to his tail, but in his older age this has faded. Now he looks nearly entirely black. His eyes are the very darkest brown you can get without being black.
