Oh I'm still alive I'm still alive I can't apologise no Iris wanted to see them again. She knew Duke was alive, she knew Rose was alive as well. What about the rest of her family? Onisim? Seta? Tessar? Her heart raced at the thought of them all coming to greet her. Something told the elegant female that Anevay wasn’t alive though. Something about the environment near Falling Moon said that to her. Of course she could be wrong, and she seriously hoped she was. Iris wandered towards the streams, although stopped before she could see them. Only hear them. She took in the sound of rushing water for a moment before turning round to face Falling Moon territory. This was it.
She raised her head to the air and closed her eyes. Iris let out a long, powerful and feminine howl for her family. Duke, Rose, anyone. He hoped Taku wouldn’t come, seeing as she knew he was alive, but he could come if he wanted to. As the howl died away, Iris’ ear twitched and she waited for someone. Anyone. She waited patiently, happy to sit there all day if she had to. She hoped that howl was powerful enough to travel to Falling Moon, she had basically put all her power into it.
Please, please, please come.

Duke was still very, very angry from the whole Rose-and-Myu situation. It cut him to his core, some of the things that Rose had said. He didn't use her, or Myu, or anyone he loved. He just appreciated them. In a roundabout angry kind of way, he was always appreciative of the fact he had them.
But the duo which had once relied on each other so much had broken apart. They had been drifting for a while, but then the line had snapped and they were both spinning away in their own paths of self-destruction. They'd get over it though. He knew he would and he hoped she would.
And now, as he wandered the boundaries which made his land his land, a beautiful long-lost howl erupted over the forests and Duke's head snapped up. He would not wait for Rose to lead the way this time. He simply ran towards the source of the howl, clearing his mind of any preconceptions. He did not want to think his lovely daughter Iris was back, and then have her ripped away from him again.
So when he rounded a thicket of bushes, and saw her multicoloured pelt through a screen of leaves, he took a sharp breath. He could believe it now, because he could see it. Lovely undemanding Iris was back, she looked healthy, and she had returned to him.
This year kept getting better and better.
"Iris!" he exhaled loudly, padding over to her in a rush, eyes raking over her to quickly check again that she was not hurt. He'd felt especially protective of her since the Caerwyn incident. It made his blood boil. "You're alive!" he cried triumphantly, again, for it made him so proud. He knew his family was strong enough to survive- well, most of them.

Iris didn’t feel a bit of doubt. She refused to. She smiled at all times, hoping at least one would come. Did they hear her? She stared at the bushes, gulping. She didn’t feel doubt. She refused to. She really refused to, she didn’t even think about the idea that they wouldn’t come. That they were dead. They couldn’t be. God damn it, it was Duke! How could he die from one little earthquake? He was strong, big, and so where her siblings. Iris was thinking like an over-exaggerated pup, and she knew this, but still. Iris wanted to think like this. It was hopeful.
When she seen a figure moving, her ears pricked forward and she stood tall, curious. Was it one of them? A large figure, black and white… Oh my god. It was. He had heard her. He was really alive, he was here! Her heart raced and she forced herself not to cry, but her eyes still glistened with tears. She stared at Duke. “Dad!” she exclaimed, “yes, I am. I’m so happy you are too… I knew you would be.” she grinned up at him, still feeling rather small. Iris was used to the feeling, though. She was always a petite wolf.
She licked him on the cheek, feeling confident. She didn’t really care if he didn’t want to have a greeting like this or not, Iris knew she did and she would do it if she wanted to. She felt more confident around her family than others. “Taku’s alive as well. Your grandson…” she said softly. She didn’t know if he would be upset by that. He was Caerwyn’s son after all, but he was his own flesh and blood in a sense. Wasn’t that enough to be proud of him? He was more Falling-Moon material than Dancer Star, anyway from what Iris had seen.

Duke chuckled gruffly, embarrassed by her blatant affection, and stepped back a little. She looked quite intimidated by his size, but then again she'd always been quite tiny. He grinned, smug and proud all rolled into one. Of course she'd survived. She may be gentle, but she was his daughter. Of course she hadn't been beaten by a mere earthquake.
Duke paused for one beat in consideration. Taku was alive? He wondered for a minute whether to be happy or indifferent. Still... it was his genes, again. And he was arrogant enough to believe it was his doing, his blood running through Taku's veins was enough to keep him alive through natural turmoil.
"Excellent," he growled happily, and he looked Iris over once again to check she was okay. "What happened? We looked everywhere for you," he retorted gruffly. Duke never really changed.
