Rose felt a little bad. It seemed that Flare had caught on now, she was more serious, less talkative. She was a good hunter and a fast learner, then. Perhaps Duke had had his reasons for accepting her. She would ask him.
"I don't know what they're planning. But they are most likely going to attack at some point. We do, after all, have their Alpha."
The white wolf wasn't sure if Flare knew about this, seeing as she was so new. Either way, it was sink or swim time. There seemed a determination in the opposing female's eyes that suggested she wanted to prove herself. That was more promising. Her body language seemed more submissive, but still strong, which was the cleverest way to be in a pack like this. Rose knew that she had no official rank but she lived and breathed this pack, and she would be respected.
"Let me give you some advice," she spoke softly now, standing up. She was readying herself to leave. "You need to pick your moments more carefully. I could go away and use all of the things you have told me, I could bring you down if I wanted to. Information is power. I'm not saying never tell others about yourself, but I would suggest putting up a guard. There are wolves that you will befriend and that you can trust- just don't assume that every wolf will be that way."

Flare nodded slightly, showing she understood. Seeing that Rose was getting ready to leave, Flare decided to tell her one more thing. "The Dancing Stars suspect you have Caden. While I was leaving their territory after they turned me down, I heard Bandit howl for the pack meeting. I know I shouldn't have listened, but I was curious. They're catching on, and they might be ready to come to get him. I didn't hear any plans though. It's either they didn't yet make any, or they lowered their voices before discussing plans. I don't know. All I know is I didn't hear anything else." Flare looked up at Rose, wondering how she would accept the information. Flare wasn't trying to get on the pack's good side, she was now part of the pack, and she wanted them to know it.

Rose listened carefully, tail and fur swishing in the light breeze. The colours around them were beginning to change. The leaves were taking on a golden hue now, soon the whole forest would seem a blaze of autumn warmth in blustery winds. It reminded her that this would be her first winter without Raiden.
"I expect they do," she replied. "I expect there'll be a war soon, too. How else can this end?"
Her voice finally showed a little emotion, the slightest tinge of sadness as her dark eyes met Flare. She wondered if the other wolf would take her advice. With a slight dip of her head Rose turned and walked away deep in thought.

Flare stared after Rose, deciding this time not to follow her to wherever she was going. Flare would do her own thing today. Flare turned and walked the other way, and she couldn't help but feel that even though Rose mentioned not to be making friends in the pack off the bat, because the wolves may not be very friendly, Flare couldn't help but feel Rose was now her friend. Flare hoped for a long friendship, and hoped that death wouldn't spoil it. Flare stopped and turned to look at Rose moving away. "May the wolf spirit bless you." Flare whispered.
